Games releasing this week (27 November – 2 December 2011)

Things are clearly starting to wind down for the year as industries rush to get their last bit of work done so they can go to the coast for a couple of weeks before kicking it all up again next year.

And with this year’s ‘big’ releases behind us, you can bet your sweet navel fluff that the gaming industry execs have probably been surrounded by concubines and cocktails in the Maldives for weeks already.

Never fear though, because there are still games coming out – and PC gamers will be glad that they can finally get their hands on retailed versions of Batman Arkham City and Assassin’s Creed Revelations this Friday, 2 December 2011.

But we’ve already featured those games – and anyway, who cares about that old hat when THESE awesome games are coming, too?

Karaoke Revolution Glee: Volume 3 (Wii)

Why, yes, that is a Glee game right there.

Now, haters are going to hate – but the TV show has been such a big success that they’ve managed to churn out not one, but THREE Glee karaoke games. Which is pretty funny, considering Glee is basically a collection of covers – so it’s karaoke of karaoke, right?

Volume 3 of Karaoke Revolution has 35 tracks from Season 2 of the show – and has the related scenes playing while you sing. So now you can gawk over Santana and Britney, want to slap Rachel or bring out your inner diva Mercedes in the priv-

WHOA! That was really revealing. Let’s leave it at that, shall we?

James is going to hate me for this one 😀

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten (PS3)

This highly-stylised tactical RPG from Nippon Ichi Software falls into the category of “if you know about it, you probably love it”.

Disgaea 4 revolves around the almost-dodgy-sounding Valvatores, a former vampiric tyrant who gave up his powers after failing a vow, and is now raising up from the bottom to overthrow the leaders of Netherworld (the game’s world).

As with previous Disgaea titles, gameplay is turn-based combat on grid-maps; building up allies; using special abilities; and strategising your way to defeating your enemies. There are also new features, such as “tower” gameplay – essentially allies begetting allies and forming powerful tower formations.

It's so Japanese it hurts - and that's why it's awesome

Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

Mario Kart 7 is bringing Nintendo‘s super popular Kart franchise to the 3DS. Expect the same gameplay you’d expect from Mario Kart (turtle shells included) – as well a bunch of new features.

New characters have been added , like Wiggler, Queen Bee and…Metal Mario?

Besides that, there’s also an option to play as a Mii. You also get to customise your kart – aesthetically, as well as functionally. New weapons, new tracks, new powers and abilities – and a new Community feature, just to make sure you’ll always be playing.

Biggest release this week? I bet Tarryn’s magic 8-ball says “YES”.
