2012 is looking sure to be an utterly glorious year for gaming.
Although the first few months are looking a little thin, as we move towards the middle of the year, things are scheduled to get pretty crazy, with the likes of Mass Effect 3, XCOM, Hitman Absolution, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, Far Cry 3 and loads more all expected.
Today I’m taking a look at some of the year’s most exciting PC exclusives. Why PC exclusives? Well because games developed exclusively for one platform tend to make the best of the hardware, and PC gamers are looking particularly spoilt in 2012.
Here are the 5 PC exclusive titles I’m looking most forward to this year:
5. StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm
The second release in the StarCraft II trilogy is expected to drop in 2012.
Gamers will get to play the Zerg campaign, and it will also introduce new units and rebalance the multiplayer portion of the game. Heart of the Swarm is a day-one purchase for any self-respecting StarCraft fan.
4. MechWarrior Online
Piranha Game’s Mechwarrior Online is a real-time strategy game based on the famed MechWarrior franchise that many older PC gamers should be familiar with. It is expected out sometime in the second half of 2012.
3. DOTA 2
Valve’s DOTA 2 is undoubtedly one of the year’s most important releases. The first iteration of the game was a user-created WarCraft III map.
With long time DotA developer “IceFrog” at the helm, it will be interesting to see the direction Valve takes in updating the formula which spawned an entire genre.
2. Guild Wars 2
ArenaNet’s subscription-free MMORPG looks set to introduce some revolutionary changes to the MMO space. This video pretty much says it all.
1. Diablo III
This one kind of goes without saying.
As the sequel to one of gaming’s most iconic and successful IP’s, there is simply no denying that Diablo III is one of 2012’s most anticipated games.
For the moment Diablo III is only confirmed for release on PC, but a later console release is looking extremely likely.

I’m looking forward to playing some GW2 and DotA 2. Not too excited about the others.
