The Sims 3 Master Suite Stuff review (PC)

The Sims 3 Master Suite Stuff pack is the latest Stuff pack for EA’s hugely popular people simulator – and serves as a slight booster pack until The Sims 3 Showtime pops up in the coming months.

It’s difficult to review these booster packs because they’re just that – a collection of added content to pad your growing collection of goods available to your Sims.

Is the content you get in this particular pack worth the pricetag of R179? I would say no, no it’s not – but perhaps there is some other value to be had from this minor content boost.

In a bid to fairly test the mettle of this suite, I went to the core of what it’s about:

The Master Suite Stuff is mainly focused on adding “romantic” items to the roster, including a few new hairstyles and clothing items (bathroom and bedroom-themed of course) – as well as soft-setting living items – again, mainly focused around bathroom and, ooh la la, the bedroom.

Candles, fluffy towel racks, love-bed, love couch – you get the picture here.

At the core, Master Suite is trying to set an obvious mood for lovin’ – so I set off on an adventure to see how that works out.

Awesome McAwesome

Meet Awesome McAwesome (real name unknown) – he epitomises everything women desire – check that manly body hair; the delightfully masculine unibrow; and a Master Suite additional hairstyle that can only be describes as “similar to Gary Oldman in the Fifth Element.”

His personality traits are humourless; artistic; ambitious; snobbish; and evil.

So basically, he’s a hipster – and he’s moved into Sunnyville with one goal – to find love. Ironically.

And the Master Suite was going to help him do it.

The McAwesome Trials – in pictures!

His pad was a bit bland - but with the Master Suite items, it was a bona fide love-pit in no time.

Though he disagreed with my notion that hipsters should eat outside.

After a bit of preening, it was time to set off in search of lady-folk.

While walking down the street, we came across a lovely young lady carrying her baby - it was time for McAwesome to get his flirt on!

As it turns out, it was actually a dude. So after stealing candy from a baby, we went looking elsewhere.

Where better to find women, than at a spa? And better yet, they were fighting! This was the perfect chance.

Julie wasn't buying into McAwesome's advances. Strike one.

Luckily Monica was right there and was much more receptive to McAwesome's forward questions like "are you single?" - clearly, she's a bit of an easy-A. Perfect!

After learning that they shared a snobbish trait, she agreed to go on a date with our budding lover - so naturally they went across the road to the cheap and greasy diner.

The date must have been boring because McAwesome came out and immediately called the lady-man he'd met earlier.

He invited Monica to stay the night, but she said she had to run off. (She literally ran off).

The next day I bought McAwesome a really expensive sports car - to win Monica over by appealing to her shallow nature.

He hit the gym with the same thing in mind.

That night, when Monica came over, McAwesome serenaded her with a bit of nude guitaring - surrounded by the ambiance of the Master Suite candles.

The rest, as they say, is history. The only question that remains - was it worth R179? Well, no. Not really.

In the next episode of The McAwesome Trials

McAwesome meets Monica's overweight and notoriously self-righteous roommate, Jessica, who does not approve of their public displays of affection.

SPOILER: It doesn't end well.
