Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City review roundup

Yet another release in the iconic Resident Evil Series, Operation Racoon City takes place during the same time frame as Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, although it is considered a non-canon, hypothetical scenario.

There are 12 playable characters in Operation Racoon City, each with different weapons and abilities.

Staying true to the Resident Evil name, Operation Racoon City is a third person action-horror game.

Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City

The game hits local retail shelves tomorrow (23 March), and is being released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. However, based on what other reviewers have had to say, we will probably be skipping this one. It’s 54/100 Metacritic, and 5.2/10 user score aren’t exactly compelling arguments to run out and buy it.

Raccoon City suffers from poor design and sometimes doesn’t quite seem to “get” the point of the style it wishes to emulate, but that doesn’t stop it from being a genuinely good time that should satisfy anybody looking for a hardcore romp. As a challenging rollercoaster ride through an iconic fictional catastrophe, Raccoon City provides hours of violent fun interspersed with some exasperated cries of aggravation. Read more

Umbrella may have filled Raccoon City with horrific creatures, but SlantSix has tainted the fabled town in its own way. It’s difficult recommending a return to Raccoon when you have to endure buggy AI, clunky gameplay, and terrible glitches like disappearing floors.
