PC case pricing in SA compared

9 October 2012

Shopping around for PC cases can save you a fair bit. Below are the cheapest Cooler master and Corsair case options from South African online retailers including LandmarkPC, Sybaritic, Rebeltech, Wootware, Prophecy, and Takealot.

Prices are accurate as of the time of writing.

Cooler Master

HAF XM HAF-X Cosmos II
LandmarkPC R1,378.26 R1,668.96 R3,569.34
Sybaritic R1,379.00 R1,670.00 R3,636.00
Rebeltech R1,316.00 R1,594.00 R3,470.00
Wootware R1,371.00 R1,661.00 R3,663.00
Prophecy R1,396.96 R1,687.88 R3,654.16
Takealot R1,413.00 R,1,739.00 N/A

If you’re in the market for a Cooler Master case, Rebeltech is your best bet. The company has the best pricing on all three of the cases in the comparison. Shopping around can save you up to 7 percent on the HAF XM, 9 percent on the HAF-X, and nearly 6 percent on the high-end Cosmos II case.

Various stores have told us that the supply of the Cosmos II case in South Africa is pretty limited however, so be sure to check for stock before ordering yours, saving a small percentage of the cost for the case may not be worth waiting for weeks to get it.

Corsair

Carbide 500R black Graphite 600T White Obsidian 650D
LandmarkPC R1,190.16 R1,499.10 R1,411.32
Sybaritic R1,191.00 R1,808.00 R1,592.00
Rebeltech R1,135.00 R1,796.00 R1,518.00
Wootware R1,227.00 R1,798.00 R1,583.00
Prophecy R1,208.86 N/A R1,610.14
Takealot R1,148.00 R1,452.00 N/A

Corsair cases were also compared, with Rebeltech (Carbide 500R), and LandmarkPC (Graphite 600T and Obsidian 650D) offering the best pricing for these cases. You can save 8 percent on a Carbide 500R Black, over 20 percent on a Graphite 600T white, and 14 percent on an Obsidian 650D.

Be sure to check the shipping policy of a store from which you plan on buying a case. Cases are usually large and heavy, which may increase what you’re paying especially if you live outside of one of the major South African Cities.

I would go Thermaltake, far more cost effective .. like the THERMALTAKE CHASER MK1 MID-TOWER for R1699 or THERMALTAKE XASER VI FULL TOWER for R2350 pricing varies but its about there, and they have great features, and they look epic!
