2013 PC exclusives

15 January 2013

The PC exclusive release schedule is looking pretty healthy in 2013. Lined up for the year is co-op zombie survival build-em-up Fortnite, MMOFPS Survarium, the terrifying Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, a free-to-play Command and Conquer reboot, and a return to the front lines in Company of Heroes 2.

Fortnite (2013)

The zombie/survival genre has certainly blossomed in recent years, and now it seems every major developer is looking to get in on the action.

The PC co-op survival game will throw players into a sandbox environment, making them scavenge for supplies, food and building materials. Throughout the day, players need to build their fort, because by night, players will have to defend their new shelter from a zombie horde.

Fortnite will also be the first Unreal Engine 4-powered game.

Survarium (Late 2013)

After shutting down production of Stalker 2, Vostok began developing a new free-to-play MMO FPS called Suvarium, which will return players to the Stalker games’ setting of “The Zone”.

Survarium will feature RPG elements in its gameplay, for example: character levelling, customisation, and creating your own clan, to name just a few.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs (2013)

A sequel is finally on its way for arguably one of the most frightening games of all time – Amnesia.

A Machine for Pigs will continue the quest for survival, although as an indirect follow-up to the original game.

Featuring a new cast of characters and time setting, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs should bring some new surprises to the fan-favourite gameplay style embedded from the original.

Command and Conquer (2013)

Command & Conquer will be making a comeback on PCs in 2013 after being mutated into a free-to-play title; it was originally being planned as a sequel to Generals.

Command & Conquer will use the Frostbite 2 engine, bringing the gorgeous visuals and destructibility associated with Battlefield 3 to the C&C warzone.

EA has also announced that the game will feature a single-player campaign, in addition to the focus on multiplayer.

Company of Heroes 2 (Early 2013)

Company of Heroes 2 will follow up from the critically-acclaimed 2006 strategy game, which garnered a huge cult following from its release.

Officially announced back in May 2012, the sequel will feature a new campaign following the battles across the Eastern Front of Europe in World War II, a new Essence 3.0 Engine, and a ‘True Sight’ game mechanic, through which players will only be able to see what their controlled soldiers see, leaving what may be behind the next building or treeline unknown.
