iBurst has announced that it will be offering unlimited online gaming bandwidth from early next year for R99 per month.
Subscribers to “iGame Unlimited” will be able to play on the various iGame servers without using their allocated bandwidth.
The service will be available on both iBurst Wireless and iBurst’s new iDSL package range from January next year.
“For many people, gaming is less of a recreational activity and more of a vocation. Our new unlimited iGame will give these dedicated folks the tools of their trade,” said Jannie van Zyl, iBurst Group CEO.
iGame is one of South Africa’s most successful gaming communities. It hosts multiplayer servers for popular PC games like Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War, Wolfenstein, Quake4, and Left 4 Dead 2 as well as being the Official Heroes of Newerth service provider locally. Gamers simply require a legal copy of the game and the iGame game server ip address.
All subscribers to the new iBurst iDSL service will have access to the standard iGame platform and as an introductory launch offer will receive 1 Gigabyte of free gaming bandwidth per month for a period of three months, thereafter any gaming bandwidth used would be regarded as part of their normal bandwidth cap.
iDSL subscribers on packages of 5 Gigabytes and up can opt for iGame Unlimited where users will not only have uncapped gaming bandwidth but will also enjoy preferential status with guaranteed game play, priority support on the iGame servers and automatic entry into monthly prize pools.
iBurst’s new iDSL product range will be launched in conjunction with iGame Unlimited in early January, and promises to offer consumers an unshaped DSL service with a per-gigabyte bandwidth cost of between R29 and R49.
When asked about his thoughts on the recently launched similar offering from Web Africa, Johnathan Smit of iGame had this to say: “We see both ventures – iGame and WAGE – as efforts to improve the gaming environment in South Africa. That said though, iGame has been around for a long time and has a proven and established support base in the local gaming community. With our current setup we aim at improving our services, offering fulltime online support to gamers, dedicated services and prioritized gaming traffic.”
