EA and DICE recently showed off Battlefield 4 at an event held in March, and, as expected, the visuals and technical aspects were impressive; but what sort of hardware was the demo running on?
The 17-minute demo was played on a quad-core Intel i7 CPU with not one, but two Radeon HD 7990 cards – the most powerful dual-GPU cards in the world currently. That’s 4 GPUs and a massive 12GB of GDDR5 graphics RAM.
The demo was rendered internally at 3K resolution (around 3200 x 2000 pixels), which was downscaled to 1080p at 60 frames per second.
The demo was said to be an “unoptimised alpha version” of the game, which is also why DICE went with such a powerful PC to play it.
AMD and Nvidia are also currently working alongside DICE to release special drivers for Battlefield 4.
