Create your own RPG with REDkit beta

The developer behind the Witcher and the Witcher 2, CD Projekt RED, has released the REDkit beta, which is essentially an RPG-creator.

REDkit beta is a set of tools that allows gamers to craft non-linear role-playing adventures – much like the things you’d see in the developer’s own games, using the existing Witcher worlds.

The new platform has just entered open beta, so anyone can try it out, and create new content or tinker with existing mods for the previous Witcher games.

Players can build new environments, quests, combat schemes, and even share their creations with other gamers.

“We want to give players the power to tell the same kind of non-linear, branching stories that made The Witcher games so popular,” said Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED. “Our fans have helped us for years to make our games the best they can be, and REDkit is part of embracing our community as a partner in game development.”

Users won’t need to have a strong understanding of programming and editing to learn how to create unique content and play around with the developing tools.

CD PRojekt RED is currently developing the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which will be available in 2014 on “all high-end platforms, including PlayStation 4.”
