Steam Trading Cards

Valve has introduced Stream Trading Cards on its digital game distribution platform. Steam Trading Cards is new service that will allow gamers to win rewards by acquiring cards.

The cards can be turned into games badges and trade-able Steam community items.

Half of a set of cards can be gained through gameplay, while the other half is earned through collecting items.

Once a full set has been collected, players can craft them into a game badge. The badge will then show on your profile, giving you something to boast about on Steam besides your un-played game library, as well as earning you emoticons, profile backgrounds and coupons.

The badges also have XP, so you can level up your badge which will earn you non-trade-able items, like profile showcases, extra friend slots and other features.

The trading card service has just been launched in beta, and is currently attached to Don’t Starve, Dota 2,Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Portal 2, and Half-Life 2, with the service set to be added to more games in the coming months.
