Valve has launched a new system that will allow Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players to police themselves.
Overwatch is the new system, and has just been launched in its beta phase.
The system allows reputable and long-serving members of the CS: GO community to be investigators, giving them access to an “Overwatch button” if anything needs to be flagged.
These incidences will become pending cases which require further monitoring by other Overwatchers.
“If the investigators collectively agree that an offence has occurred, a ban will be issued. The ban duration will depend on the severity of the offence and the suspect’s history of convictions, if any.”
Valve has put together a handy Overwatch FAQ to explain the system and its functioning further.
What do you think of the Overwatch system? Do you think the most reputable players should be in charge of monitoring in-game behaviours?
