Trine price reduced, free DLC released

20 April 2010

Trine, developed by Frozenbyte, is an action platform title set in a fantasy world, and it received much praise for its gorgeous graphics, well rounded character design, and solid gameplay mechanics which utilises physics based puzzles and combat. Trine even features local session co-op play, which is somewhat of a rarity these days.

There hasn’t been a better time to pick up this title (via Steam at least) as it is currently discounted from US$19.99 (±R150) to US$5 (±R37). Most will probably agree that this is a fantastically low price for such a gem of a game. The discount special is running until April 26.

The update brings the game to version 1.07 and includes a new level – Path to New Dawn – among various other tweaks. Lauri Hyvärinen, Frozenbyte CEO, said in a press release: “We are extremely happy to release this free level.

It is our way of saying thanks to our fans and giving back to everyone who has bought Trine. We’ve been delighted that so many players have enjoyed Trine so far, and I hope this free level adds a little bit to that enjoyment!”

Path to New Dawn is made available upon completion of the game and promises new visuals, and an extremely challenging platforming experience. There are 10 special items for the player to collect throughout the level.

The update will also bring Steam Cloud integration, and tweaks such as additional info within the inventory menu.
