Modern Warfare 2 (PC) Free to download and play this Weekend

6 May 2010

Valve has announced via its online distribution portal, Steam, that it will be making Modern Warfare 2 free to download and play once again this weekend.

They did the same thing last month, and it looks like it probably paid off as they are repeating the promotional stunt.

Details are pretty scant, and last time they gave us exact dates and times in which it would be free to play. Regardless, it is confirmed that it is possible to start pre-loading the game now, and at some point close to the weekend (no time zone details provided as yet), you will be able to go online and play the game for free.

Of course the bandwidth required to take advantage of this promotion makes it only really viable for those on uncapped, and furthermore, the limited timeframe in which users have to download the entire client means that only 4Mb DSL users will have it ready in time for the weekend.

Thanks Isengard for the tip.
