Widespread reports have been coming in over the past week that the PC version of recently released Splinter: Cell Conviction is often unplayable thanks to Ubisoft’s new ill conceived DRM which requires players to be connected to Ubisoft’s servers in order to play the game, even in single player mode.
The most prominent complaint comes from gamers who claim to be unable to connect to any other gamers using the built in matchmaking system. The only short term solution currently available at this point if for players to add their friends using Ubisoft’s uPlay network (spit!), and create a private match. Even after doing this however, players are often unable to get the multiplayer working.
To make matters worse, gamers are reporting that when they do get into a match, selecting the “realistic” difficulty setting makes them impervious to damage – oh the irony.
