The fantastic free-to-play hack ‘n slash Path of Exile, which launched in October 2013, has received its first free content expansion – Sacrifice of the Vaal.
If you are looking for some fellow adventurers, head on over to the MyGaming forum: Path of Exile
Sacrifice of the Vaal transforms the world of Wraeclast, introducing new content that reflects the vengeful return of Queen Atziri and the corruptive influence of the Vaal civilization.
The expansion adds:
- Dozens of secret corrupted areas;
- Over 60 new boss monsters;
- Ambush and Invasion challenge leagues;
- Cut-throat Mode and Sarn Arena PvP options;
- New ultimate skill gems;
- A crafting item with chaotic results;
- An epic encounter with Atziri herself.
As this is a free-to-play game, developer Grinding Gear Games plans to provide content updates like this for the foreseeable future, enticing players back to spend money on cosmetic items, new hero slots, and an ever expanding stash of loot.
I’ve spent many hours enjoying Path of Exile and its unique skill tree and leveling system, and for the low price of nothing, trying it out comes highly recommended. Despite being free-to-play, there are no pay-to-win transactions and the game can be thoroughly enjoyed without paying a cent.
