Do you know what’s better than a gaming PC with DDR3 RAM? A gaming PC with DDR4 RAM, of course.
Our PC building friends over at Evetech have let us know they will soon be stocking Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz Gaming RAM in varying sizes from 4GB to 32GB.
The RAM, which is yet to get an arrival date, is priced as follows:
- Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz Desktop 4GB – R1,099
- Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz 8GB – R1,899
- Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz Kit 8GB – R1,999
- Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz Kit 16GB – R3,299
- Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz Gaming Kit 16GB – R3,499
- Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400MHz Gaming Kit 32GB – R6,499
DDR4 RAM, according to the information supplied, allows data to be processed faster, a system’s memory capacity to be doubled, and is 40% more energy efficient than DDR3 technology.
Now, I know some of you are asking: “but what motherboard can I slot this sweet RAM into?”. Fortunately, the new X99 chipsets should be on their way to SA, too.
The X99 board will not only allow for a shift to DDR4 memory, but will support 8-core CPUs at the top end and Haswell-E, according to Anandtech.
