Blizzard’s long awaited sequel to the iconic RTS, StarCraft, will be in local stores next week Tuesday, July 27. I’ve already booked leave and have begun stocking up on energy drinks, biltong and Twinkies. 

In the meantime, have you pre-ordered your copy of the game? Publishing juggernaut Activision Blizzard is known for being a bit harder on PC gamers than most, and the recommended retail price of R529 is a tough pill to swallow when you’re used to picking up new releases for around R350. All is not lost though, and it will of course be possible to find it for cheaper than that. Some retailers are even offering added incentives for pre-orders.

It’s great to see that Exclusive Books has not only entered the video game space, but they offer the lowest price on StarCraft II – excluding delivery. Customers can order the game and arrange for it to be delivered free of charge to their nearest Exclusive Books store. 

As usual there was not much between Zaps, Kalahari and Take 2, although Zaps has the coolest launch special with figurines, stickers, shirts, and awesome StarCraft II branded hardware (Razer headphones, mouse and keyboard) up for grabs.
