PC gamers are stingy bastards

Cheapskate money

The latest NDP Group survey of US PC gamers has revealed that half of all the Master Race wait for a game to go on special before buying it.

The Understanding PC Gaming 2014 report was based on a survey of 6,225 US citizens aged 9 years and older. Besides waiting for a discount, 46 percent of PC gamers said they buy their titles digitally.

“Consumers’ expectations may be the greatest barrier to maximizing spending in the PC gaming space,” NPD analyst Liam Callahan said. “Since half of PC gamers who play digital and/or physical games on the computer are expecting there to always be a sale right around the corner, publishers and retailers alike need to better manage these expectations.”

While Steam sales and Humble Bundles may be beneficial for gamers and make the pastime more affordable, the report remarked that the discounted prices may be stifling revenue and growth in the industry.

The report also revealed some stats about the average US PC gamer.

According to the findings, 37% of respondents called themselves PC gamers. These gamers played for an average of 6.4 hours a week.

Broken down into gender, the split was nearly even with 51%/49% in favour of men.

The average PC gamer in the US is 38-years-old with an average household income of $69,000 (±R755,000) per year.

So, PC gamers, are you guys always waiting for the next special? Let us know in the comments and forum.

I agree with most comments on here.

I refuse to spend R400 to R600 on a game where the main focus was console and we get the sloppy seconds.

    also
having a family means you don’t have the luxury of spending that amount
of money every month on crap, There are usually only a select few that
is worth it but then again I hate having to always be online to play, if
our lovely Telkom breaks something and takes upwards of 2 weeks to fix
your line means I cant play something I just spent R600 on because they
do not cater for off-line play or if they do give you the option the progress is not saved etc

    But
I am a sucker and will always prefer pc over any console, and I have
tried them all only to sell them second hand 6 months down the line.

I played my ps3 for about 6 months and used it as a blue ray player after
that then sold it lol, xbox lasted about 3 months before being pawned
off on my little brother that also sold it lol
