StarCraft II has been playable for just 48 hours and already a number of reviews are up. I have to admit, I find it difficult to comprehend how someone could complete the substantial campaign, as well as get a feel for the additional challenge missions and then of course, the mammoth multiplayer component, in such a short time.
At any rate, there are 4 Metacritic approved reviews up so far. Joystiq gave it 100%, NZGamer gave it 98/100, Megagamers gave it 94/100, and so did Gaming XP. This gives the game an overall Metacritic score of 97/100.
Metacritic’s user score for the game is sitting on a less awe inspiring 85/100, and is comprised of 492 votes. Of course we wouldn’t take these too seriously, as the third listed user review gives the game 0/10, instantly discrediting the entire concept of user-reviews.
More review scores are bound to start trickling in over the next few days, and whether or not StarCraft II can remain north of that magical 95/100 mark remains to be seen. MyGaming will be publishing two separate reviews, one for the single player and one for the multiplayer component.
Our initial impressions have been highly positive. The single player campaign is surprisingly deep and engaging, with a variety of mission types as well as a couple of neat new ideas which keep things fresh.
The multiplayer is as savage and addictive as ever, and the overall polish is exactly what we would expect from a game of this pedigree.
Stay tuned for our full reviews coming soon.
