Play 900 old-school arcade games for free in your browser

4 November 2014

Are you sitting at work right now, bored, and longing for an arcade game which will remind you of your childhood?

The Internet Archive – a San Fransisco nonprofit organisation – has just the answer. The archive now stocks 900 old-school arcade games, including Dig Dug, Galaga, Golden Axe, and a whole lot more.

We must stress that these games are damn old, so be prepared for some romantic memories of your favourite games to be ruined – they have not aged well.

The games make use of an emulator which allow Atari 2600 games and the like to work on your modern PC with minimal fuss.

“The Internet Arcade is a web-based library of arcade (coin-operated) video games from the 1970s through to the 1990s, emulated in JSMAME, part of the JSMESS software package. Containing hundreds of games ranging through many different genres and styles, the Arcade provides research, comparison, and entertainment in the realm of the Video Game Arcade,” the site states.
