Is Age of Empires making a comeback?

12 January 2015

Age of Empires 2 is a game that brings warm and fuzzy feelings into our hearts.

The hours spent building unconquerable fortresses and epic armies, only to have a regiment of lance-carrying soldiers stab your horses to death and catapults smash your castle to pieces – good times.

Good times which may make a comeback, if you are one for reading into job advertisements. Microsoft is looking for some software gurus to work on “the next installment in a beloved strategy game franchise”, with the successful candidate set to join Decisive Games.

According to the advertisement, the team is focused on world-class strategy game development.

Microsoft owns the rights to three popular RTS titles: Age of Empires II, Rise of Nations, and Halo Wars. If I had to put money on one of them getting remade, it would be Age of Empires.

Let’s hope I am right.
