S.T.A.L.K.E.R. weekend deal on Steam

20 August 2010

Steam has launched yet another great deal: gamers can pick up a bundle of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl for a 75% discount. The bundle is on offer for US$9.99, which equates to ±R75 – a definite bargain, available until 23 August 2010.

The original title in the series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, is set in the radiation ravaged lands surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power station, which catastrophically failed in 1986, causing one of the world’s worst nuclear disasters. The game is set in 2012, after a second explosion ravaged the lands. From the epicenter of this explosion, horrendously deformed mutant creatures begin to stalk the lands. The land is a lawless place, in which scavengers, bounty hunters, criminals and adventurers struggle to survive. Gamers will take on the role of just such an adventurer. The gameplay can be described as a survival FPS.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat returns gamers to the lands around Chernobyl for another adventure. This time they take on the role of an undercover Russian military officer who is investigating the disappearance of five military helicopters.

Shadow of Chernobyl currently sits with an average of 82/100 on Metacritic. Call of Pripyat sits with 80/100.
