In order to buy a game on Steam now, you have to use a debit or credit card to transfer funds directly to Valve. Thanks to the Steam Wallet however, you can now transfer funds from your debit or credit card, to a virtual wallet for storage, before transferring it to Valve.
You can transfer funds in $5, 10$, $25, $50 and $100 increments.
While many will wonder what the point of such an application is, I can see the appeal for younger gamers who don’t have credit or debit cards. This function allows parents to transfer funds into their kid’s Steam Wallet, and from there, they can purchase games at their leisure. Now, if there were some way for us to purchase Steam coupons, similar to MS Points or PSN currency, with cash from retailers, then Valve would really be on to something.
