World of Warcraft: Cataclysm gets release date

4 October 2010

Blizzard has announced that the third expansion for its massively-massive-MMORPG , World of Warcraft, will be released on December 7 2010.

Cataclysm will supposedly reshape the land of Azeroth, bringing disaster and mayhem to the virtual landscape which millions of questers have become accustomed to. Two new races are being thrown into the mix; Goblins and Worgen, and the level cap is being increased to 85.

Players will be able to practice archaeology as a learnable skill, and Blizzard promises heaps of other additional content.

“Cataclysm includes the best content we’ve ever created for World of Warcraft. It’s not just an expansion, but a re-creation of much of the original Azeroth, complete with epic new high-level adventures for current players and a redesigned leveling experience for those just starting out,” Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said in the announcement. “With the help of our beta testers, we’re putting on the final polish, and we look forward to welcoming gamers around the world to enjoy it in just a couple of months.”

The last (and second) expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, was released over two years ago, and Cataclysm will give recently admitted addicts and jaded WoW veterans alike reason to throw themselves even deeper into one of the greatest online worlds yet created.
