Now that the highly anticipated release of Starcraft II has come and gone, Blizzard fans are turning their attention towards the developer’s next big title in its weighty franchise catalogue – Diablo III.
Fortunately, it seems likely that Blizzard has plans to give ample discussion time to the game at the upcoming annual Blizzcon conference, which showcases what the company has been up to in the past year and what its plans are for the future.
According to Shack News a number of Diablo III discussion panels are scheduled for the event, which will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on October 22nd and 23rd. These are expected to discuss the cinematics behind the game and its planned tournament structure.
Since it was officially announced in September 2008, gaming fans have been guessing at when Blizzard intends to finally release the title. Conference goers and the gaming media alike will undoubtedly be waiting with bated breath for a rock solid release date.
Unfortunately, Blizzard isn’t well known for caving into pressure from fans, so we can only speculate that the company will make some sort of final announcement at the conference.
Dating back to 1997, the Diablo franchise is widely regarded as the quintessential hack n’ slash RPG title and paved the way in many areas for the development of this genre.
