Amazon France was very nearly on the money when they listed Rise of the Tomb Raider’s release date as January 29th – in fact, it’s January 28th.
A Square Enix press release regarding Rise of the Tomb Raider released yesterday, confirming the game’s release date, and Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Steam page reflects that.
The PCs early release, as compared to the much later PlayStation 4 one, is a part of Microsoft’s recent refocus on PC gaming.
“The PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the positive momentum from our highly successful partnership and collaboration with Microsoft for the launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360,” said Scot Amos co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics.
That’s great news, and in keeping with the positivity, we’ve got the minimum requirements for you:
Minimum Requirements:
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 650 2GB or AMD HD7770 2GB
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 25 GB available space
If Rise of the Tomb Raider is anything like the initial reboot, PCs meeting this specification should find playable frame rates.
However, for those of you with more capable PCs, you’ll find a lot of room to bump up the visuals; and then there’s 4K for those of you with beastly rigs.
