Valve's Gabe Newell is actually Oprah

This is not a size thing, nor is it a money thing; we hope you weren’t thinking that.

Instead, much like Oprah, the mighty Gaben is known for doing a lot of good for the community – in this case that community is gamers.

Beyond the fantastic Steam sales, Valve and Gaben have demonstrated an incredible amount of foresight, introducing systems and standards we can’t imagine not being in place in the gaming community.

And now, Gaben finally gets to give a bunch of stuff away… for free. It’s good stuff too.

“And our third announcement, I get to have my Oprah moment, all the developers at the Vision Summit get their own Vive. You get a Vive. You get a Vive. [Crowd bursts into applause and cheering] You get a Vive. And you get a Vive. I’m very excited to see what you guys come up with and I hope you enjoy it,” he said. Thanks Gamespot.

The event in question took place at the recent Unity Vision Summit, during a discussion about augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR respectively).

As you know, Valve co-developed the Vive headset, and pre-orders will open February 29th.
