Gears of War: Ultimate Edition requires both Windows 10 as well as DirectX 12

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is the remastered release of the original Gears of War for Xbox One and PC, and now its minimum requirements have been released.

Memory: 16 GB RAM (4 GB VRAM)
GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290X
Hard Drive: 60 GB available space

OS: 64 bit Windows 10 – version 1511 & DirectX 12
CPU: Intel Core i7 @ 4Ghz or AMD FX 8-core
Memory: 16 GB RAM (6+ GB VRAM)
GPU: GeForce GTX 980 Ti or Radeon R9 390X
Hard Drive: SSD + 60 GB available space

Note that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will require both Windows 10 as well as a DirectX 12 capable graphics card.

Like with Quantum Break, and as was the case with Halo 2 in the days of Windows Vista, we can guarantee that Microsoft is using Gears of War: Ultimate Edition to sell Windows 10.

Our biggest issue with this strategy isn’t the demand for Windows 10 but the express use of the Windows Store, a seriously lacklustre service.
