Win free games with Steam Wishlist, + awesome Steam specials

25 November 2010

I have two words for people who lament the supposed death of PC gaming: Steam and Blizzard. Blizzard obviously gets kudos for its massive accomplishments developing for the platform, and Steam is arguably PC gaming’s saviour.

It is the biggest unified gaming platform in the world, and the largest single source of PC games sales.

There is simply no competing platform that offers gamers the same value that Steam does, and this week is a perfect example of just why so many PC gamers have made a virtual home for themselves in Steam.

Every day this week Steam will host a selection of massively discounted games. Until 8PM tonight, you can grab the following:

Borderlands $9.99 (50% 0ff)

RUSE $33.49 (33% off)

Prototype $14.99 (50% off)

Shank $10.04 (33% off)

The Deus Ex Collection $4.99  (75% off)

Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse $10.50 (70% off)

Counter-Strike: Source $5.00 (75% off)

Indie Energy Pack $4.99 (90% off)

Steam has also announced the launch of its wishlist feature. Basically, you can select any game in the Steam store and add it to your virtual wishlist. Every day, Steam will give 30 people the top 5 games on their wishlist.

OK, so millions of people use Steam every day, so your chances of winning are pretty miniscule, but it costs nothing to enter, and if you’re lucky, a generous friend/spouse/family member just might browse through your wish list and make your day.

A new selection of discounted games is expected to be announced after 8PM this evening.
