Oculus Rift and HTC Vive struggling to meet pre-orders

4 April 2016

Oculus and HTC are experiencing issues delivering Rift and Vive  pre-orders on time, leaving many customers waiting for their VR devices – or having their pre-orders cancelled.

The Oculus Rift was released on 28 March 2016 – although due to the Rift’s manufacturer experiencing a component shortage, many customers have still not received their devices, VG 24/7 reported.

HTC has experienced issues keeping up with the amount of pre-orders for the Vive, and some customers have had their pre-orders cancelled.

Both companies have accounted for the extended wait time their customers are experiencing. HTC is allowing those who had their pre-orders cancelled to skip the queue for the second wave of deliveries, while customers who have not received their Oculus Rift pre-orders will not be charged a shipping fee.

The HTC Vive is set to release on 5 April 2016.
