Battlefield 3’s lead designer, David Goldfarb, has announced over Twitter that despite a multi-platform release, the PC version of the game is getting some “special effort” – even something “extraordinary” – from the devs.
Presumably that includes hit registration that actually works properly.
The news follows the rather more unhappy announcement that Windows XP support for the game is being dropped altogether, with prospective PC gamers having to move onto Vista or Windows 7 instead.
A recent Steam survey shows that a not-inconsiderable 24.64% of users are still using XP, so the decision is likely to be a somewhat controversial one.
Although Battlefield 3 has yet to be formally revealed, EA CEO John Riccitielo has previously confirmed that the game will ship “in the second half of the year”.
Battlefield 3 is also set for a panel talk at the annual Game Developers Conference in March 2011.
Tokens for the online multiplayer beta were included with all PC, Xbox, and PS3 copies of Medal of Honor.
