3 Blizzard-created StarCraft II mods hit Battle.net

26 January 2011

Blizzard has published its first three StarCraft II custom game modes on Battle.net: Aiur Chef, StarJeweled, and Left 2 Die.

All three are currently running in open beta, and you can find them by logging into Battle.net via StarCraft II and browsing the custom game area. Blizzard is asking for user feedback for the three games. The maps will be free to download and play for anyone who owns StarCraft II.

Aiur Chef is a “Free For All” collection/cooking game in which players must supposedly scour the map for ingredients for certain recipes. StarJeweled basically mashes the gameplay of popular puzzler Bejeweled into the StarCraft engine, and Left 2 Die is a sort of onslaught mode with players having to build up a base while surviving  constant waves of zombies.

Last year Blizzard announced a series of upcoming custom games that it was working on for StarCraft II, with the most exciting being Blizzard Dota, which features heroes from various Blizzard franchises, including Warcraft and StarCraft. Sadly, at the time, Blizzard stated that Blizzard Dota was still a way out.
