While we were pleased to report earlier this week that Crytek had announced a multiplayer demo for Crysis 2, we were disappointed that it was to be released exclusively on Xbox 360. We’re all for multiplatform releases, but the original Crysis was a PC exclusive, and the idea of playing the sequel on a console just feels wrong somehow. Also, Crysis was all about the eye-candy, and it will be very interesting how the sequel compares to it in terms of performance and visual fidelity.
The demo has since hit Xbox Live, and so far user feedback has been highly positive.
PC gamers have cause for celebration today, as Crytek and EA have announced via Twitter that a PC demo will be released before the game’s launch date.
“At this time, Crytek & EA are glad to confirm that we’ll be releasing a pre-launch multiplayer demo Crysis 2 on PC!”
“Stay tuned for details.”
That’s all we know for now, but as the tweet instructs, we will be staying tuned for details. Crysis 2 is due out on March 25, and is being released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
