The Crytek crew have posted the minimum PC requirements for Crysis 2 on their Deutsch Crysis 2 Facebook fan page. Luckily, I’m fluent in system requirements in over 15 languages.
Crysis 2 minimum PC system requirements
• Internet connection required for activation.
• OS: XP/Vista/Windows 7
• CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz, AMD Athlon 64 x2 2Ghz or better
• 2 GB RAM
• HDD: 9 GB
• DVD ROM: 8x
• GPU: NVIDIA 8800 GT 512MB Ram or better
• Audio DirectX 9.0c compatible
• Keyboard, mouse, or Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for Windows
That all seems entirely reasonable. From memory, those specs seem to be what would have been considered a fairly powerful gaming system back when Crysis 1 launched, circa March 2008. How far we have come.
Of course, it remains to be seen how bland the game will look running on this minimum specification – the machine killing spectre of Crysis 1 looms over this sequel.
The recommended PC system requirements haven’t been revealed; perhaps because Crytek doesn’t want to give everyone a heart attack before the game launches?
Crysis 2 is scheduled to launch on 25 March 2011.
