A Kickstarter for the PGS (Portable Game System) has launched, and it promises fully-playable PC games on a console-like handheld.
Here are the current specifications of the system:
- Capable of booting in both Android 6 and Windows 10.
- 2.56GHz Intel Atom X7-Z8750 CPU
- 16-core Intel HD graphics
- Lite model comes with a 5.5-inch 720p display, 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC flash storage
- Hardcore variant ships with 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD screen, 8GB RAM and an 128GB SSD.
Early benchmarks are promising, with the PGS delivering 30 frames-per-second on titles including Batman: Arkham Knight, Dark Souls 2, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Mirror’s Edge.
These aren’t the newest games however, so it remains to be seen whether the PGS can truly call itself the “PC gamer’s console”.
The “Hardcore” version is expected to ship for $280 while the “Lite model” will retail for $230. Shipping is expected to begin in March 2017.
