Sony has detailed when they’ll be starting up their E3 conference to show off, presumably, the PS4 and possibly even have live demos and a showing of the console design itself.

The company says they’ll be hosting their press conference starting 10 June 2013 at 6PM PST/9PM EST time, which is (brace yourselves)… 4AM in the morning on June 11 locally.

This year, E3 follows from Computex 2013 in less than a week, starting on 11 June 2013. Both Microsoft and Sony are expected to reveal their consoles there, though Microsoft’s press event this month on 21 May could have the company reveal everything in one fell swoop.

Sony has said in recent weeks that the PS4 is set for a release during the 2013 holidays. The console is set to be a game-changer for the industry, tying together Sony’s Playstation Store, the PS Vita, and the Playstation Experience with one product and giving developers more and easier opportunities to develop and sell their games on the platform.

The Dual Shock controller also gets a major redesign, the first in over two decades. The DualShock 4 integrates motion sensors, a light bar for use with the Playstation Eye, a touch pad similar to the back of the PS Vita and – for the first time ever – no Start or Select buttons.

The finger triggers are now contoured, the analog thumb sticks have a recess in them for better grip, and two new buttons – Options and Share – to use new features that the PS4 offers gamers, such as inviting friends to play, recording or live-streaming gameplay footage when pressing the Share button.

Sony has yet to reveal worldwide availability or pricing figures.
