Sony turns off PS Plus automatic-renewal just before price increase

Sony has turned off PlayStation user’s automatic-renewal ahead of the incoming PlayStation Plus price increase.

The increase came into effect on 22 September and affects US  and Canadian account holders predominantly.

“If you are a current member, the new prices will take effect if your membership renews on or after this date,” said Sony.

“This marks the first time that PS Plus membership prices will increase in the US and Canada since the launch of the service in 2010.”

PlayStation Plus memberships will change to:

  • 12-month membership – $59.99 USD/$69.99 CAD
  • 3-month membership – $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD
  • 1-month membership – $11.99 CAD (remains $9.99 USD)

It has been confirmed that local prices will not be affected.
