Sony will soon halt production of the PlayStation 3 in Japan, reported Gematsu.
It reported that the official web page of the 500GB PlayStation 3 – the only model still being produced in Japan – states that shipments are scheduled to end soon.
No date has been announced, but Gematsu reported that a video game shop in Kurume suggested in a tweet that it received word that production will end in March.
The PlayStation 3 launched in South Africa on 22 March 2007. New PS3 consoles are no longer readily available locally.
