PlayStation’s State of Play had many notable and exciting announcements for gamers.
While some games are also coming to PC, we have listed the announcements made for PlayStation exclusives below.
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the original 2005 game and is set to release on 24 March 2023 on PS5.
The remake intends to provide a quality, state-of-the-art horror survival experience for players while preserving the essence of the original game.
This shall be done by reimagining the game’s storyline but keeping the essence of its plot direction the same while offering modernised graphics and updated controls.
Street Fighter 6
The sixth game in the Street Fighter franchise has been revealed and will offer brand-new, stylish mechanics, vibrant characters, and new modes when it releases in 2023 on PS4/5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The new title is also slated to be packed with new content and more ways to play for everyone – regardless of whether you’re a veteran of the series or a beginner.
An exact release date for the new title was not revealed.
Final Fantasy XVI
We’ve known about the sixteenth game in the Final Fantasy series for a while now, but we’ve finally got some actual content.
In the ‘Dominance’ trailer released for the State of Play, we get to see the latest game’s fluid and impressive combat, stunning visuals and hints at its grand and convoluted setting and storyline.
While we didn’t get a precise release date, Final Fantasy XVI is slated to release this year on PS5. Square Enix Director Hiroshi Takai promised to try not to keep us waiting too long before the next update on the game.
Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village, the award-winning and latest game in the franchise, is coming to PS VR2.
Sony said the VR version of the game will offer an unparalleled VR experience with refined controls, stunning visuals, and an experience second to none.
No details on its pricing or release date have been released yet.
Horizon Call of the Mountain
The Horizon Call of the Mountain game is being developed exclusively for PS VR2, and during the State of Play, we got a new trailer to watch.
Horizon Forbidden West also got a big update – introducing a New Game+ feature and an ultra-hard mode for those looking for a challenge.
The update also adds a new herbalist vendor that sells animal parts and revamped the Temporal Anti-Aliasing to improve visual fidelity. They’ve indicated they’re working on an upcoming patch to include VRR support and a 40fps mode.
No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky was announced to be in development for PlayStation VR2.
The development of the port required the complete reconfiguring of controls to create the most immersive experience possible for players.
The developers have indicated that more details about the features for the port will be coming in the coming months.
Stray
Stray is a unique title where you’ll take control of a cat as you explore a unique world and meets its inhabitants.
Stray is slated to release on 19 July and will also be available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.
Rollerdrome
Rollerdrome is a futuristic skater-shooter from OlliOlliWorld’s Roll7, launching in August this year on PS4/5.
You will take the role of a competitor in a brutal new bloodsport called Rollerdrome that allows for modern combat, slow-mo kills, weapon choice and the chance to end up in the Championship.
The Callisto Protocol
We finally get our first look at The Callisto Protocol, which will drop on 2 December this year on PS4/5.
The Callisto Protocol is set on one of Jupiter’s moons and is the story of Jacob Lee, an inmate at Black Iron Prison, who must fight for his life when a mysterious outbreak throws the moon into chaos.
Fans of Dead Space will likely find The Callisto Protocol an excellent addition to their collection.
Season: A Letter to the Future
Season: A Letter to the Future is a relaxing experience that follows the journey of Estelle as she leaves her village and rides off into the unknown.
Players will be able to explore, record, meet people and unravel the story of the stranger around them while travelling the world on Estelle’s bike.
Season: A Letter to the Future releases later this year on PS4/5.
Tunic
While Tunic may have been a timed exclusive for Xbox, the charming title is now coming to PS4/5 on 27 September this year.
Players will be able to follow the story of a small fox as he explores a magical world, solving puzzles and fighting enemies in an isometric setting adventure.
Eternights
We got our first look at the debut title Eternights from Studio Sai, which is expected to release in early 2023 on PS4/5.
A dating-action game, players will be able to engage in fast-paced action, date survivors of a catastrophe that left the world broken and carefully manage their time as you grow relationships and explore dungeons.
The title will also come with animated cutscenes that will change depending on your preferred date.
