The 2024 PlayStation State of Play aired yesterday and revealed several upcoming and highly-anticipated titles as well as updates on known titles.
This included updates on release dates, gameplay reveals, and first reveal trailers.
Below, we have outlined the major announcements from the State of Play 2024.
Astro Bot
One of the newly unveiled games, Astro Bot, is from Team Asobi and will be released for PS5 on 6 September 2024.
In this brand new game, you will explore six galaxies and over 80 levels in search of Astro’s scattered crew, making use of over 15 unique abilities
The title will also include over 70 new types of enemies to fight with each galaxy ending in a massive boss fight.
Concord
Concord is a new 5v5 fps game releasing on PS5 and PC on 23 August 2024 from Firewalk.
Firewalk built Concord as a love-letter to aspirational sci-fi adventure where players will play as Freegunners – guns for hire taking high-stake jobs across Wild Space.
Gameplay will centre around 5v5 combat between teams of players, each controlling a unique Freegunner character from the game’s roster.
God of War Ragnarok
God of War Ragnarok has been revealed to be officially coming to PC on 19 September 2024 and is being brought to the platform with the help of Jetpack Interactive.
Given that God of War 2018 was released on PC after being a PlayStation exclusive for a time, this announcement was not surprising.
Until Dawn
Another older title getting a facelift is Until Dawn, which is coming to PS5 and PC with enhanced graphics and performance.
This will let players experience the classic horror game in new, stunning detail.
Skydance’s Behemoth
Skydance Games’ next title, Skydance’s Behemoth is a PS VR2 title and a first-person action-adventure game coming fall 2024.
The trailer highlighted the game’s brutal physics-based hand-to-hand combat as well as player traversal, environmental puzzle-solving, and huge boss encounters.
Those few with VR2 headsets should definitely keep an eye on this one.
Path of Exile 2
Path of Exile 2 is an upcoming free-to-play action RPG from Grinding Gear Games and will be releasing into Early Access later this year.
The RPG has been hotly anticipated by fans of the first game and is expected to be an excellent addition to the genre.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter Wilds is the next title in the popular Monster Hunter franchise from Capcom and will mark the beginning of the sixth generation when it releases in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The gameplay trailer revealed at the State of Play showed off the impressive advances the upcoming game has made to locations and exploration.
Along with this, the trailer also provided a few brief looks at the characters that will feature in Wilds’ story.
Silent Hill 2
The Silent Hill 2 remake has finally received a release date and will drop on 8 October 2024.
When it was first announced the remake was met with passionate fans and high expectations for what could be achieved with modern technology.
To that end the remake aims to recapture the spark that made the original game such a hit while fully-fleshing out the teams vision with cutting-edge technology.
Alien: Rogue Incursion
Another PS VR2 titles, Alien: Rogue Incursion offers a next-gen VR experience where players will enjoy a new, horror storyline when it releases in late 2024.
A high tension shooter developed with Unreal Engine 5, players will need to stay alert as they explore a facility overrun by xenomorphs on the planet Purdan.
The title will also feature dynamic spawning and pathing to create unique situations for players as they fight the titular Aliens.
Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals is an Overwatch-style hero shooter that will allow players to take control of iconic Marvel characters in team-based combat.
The trailer it released during the State of Play was to announce its Closed Beta Test for the PS5 on July 2024.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Dynasty Warriors is back to usher in a new era of tactical hack and slash action when it releases in 2025.
The title is being developed by Omega Force and is intended to reboot the iconic franchises formula and deliver and excellent experience.
Thanks to the power of the PS5, Origins will be able to bring players to truly vast battlefields in grand action in the most tension-filled fights the series has seen ton date.
Ballad of Antara
Ballad of Antara is a world-bending action RPG from Tipsworks Studio that will release on PS5 in 2025.
A free-to-play title set in a brand new world, players will be able to explore a vast world filled with fantastical sights and characters.
Players will also experience an adventure of intertwined fates with handcrafted gameplay spaces and exploration-oriented level design.
Infinity Nikki
Infinity Nikki is an open-world dress-up adventure game coming to PS5 from Infold Games and will begin beat testing in Q3 2024.
The fifth installment in the long-running series, Infinity Nikki will feature the vast and marvelous world of Miraland in an alternative timeline from previous titles.
Where Winds Meet
An open-world, Wuxia-inspired martial arts adventure set in ancient China, Where Winds Meet is being developed by Everstone Studio.
Wuxia being a genre of fiction centred around ancient Chinese warriors with superhuman martial arts, Where Winds Meet will put players in the shoes of a young sword-wielder.
Thanks to the setting, players will be able to use a variety of supernatural powers to engage with the world – such as runnning up sheer walls or across water, stunning enemies, or even breathing fire.
