PS3 owners finally get Fallout 3 DLC

20 May 2009

Ever since Bethesda launched Fallout 3’s first downloadable content pack (DLC), Operation Anchorage, in January this year, and made it exclusively available to owners of the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game, PS3 owners have been up in arms, and rightly so.

Having paid the same price for the RPG that won the GDC’s game of the year, PS3 owners have a right to feel a bit short changed after not having received any of the game’s three available DLC packs. To make matters even worse, PS3 owners did not even receive the 1.5 update patch which fixed a number of annoying in-game bugs.

The good news is that Bethesda has announced that PS3 owners will be getting all three DLC packs, starting with Operation Anchorage in late June, which will be followed by The Pitt and Broken Steel. The DLC packs will all be released 3-6 weeks apart.

Xbox 360 and PC owners still have a few reasons to remain smug however, namely two new Fallout 3 episodes which will be released in late June and late July.
Point lookout will be released in late June for PC and Xbox 360, it will cost $10/800MS points, and will add a new area; a massive swampland loaded with new quests and content.

Mothership Zeta will also be released for Microsoft’s two gaming platforms for the same price as Point Lookout. The player will experience being abducted by angry aliens, and will most probably take place on their ship – “Mothership Zeta”.

Bethesda has confirmed that PS3 owners will get these two additional episodes after they have received the first three DLC packs.

Those who still do not own Fallout 3 should wait for the Game of the year Edition which will hit retail in October, and will feature the game as well as all five add-ons. The pack is estimated to retail in the USA for around $60 (R510) and will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
