MAG delayed to 2010?

16 July 2009

PS3 exclusive MAG’s release may have been pushed back to 2010; that is if the retailers are to be believed.

GameFly and Gamestop are now listing the game for January 2010, and not 24 November 2009 as was originally scheduled. When the game was demonstrated at this year’s E3 conference in May Sony announced that gamers could expect it to hit the shelves between September and October.

In addition Sony also announced earlier this year that MAG and God of War III were two titles that would ship in the 2009 fiscal year, a period which extends to March 2010.
According to Kotaku a Sony representative recently added that they “Haven’t made any announcements in regards to the launch date,” and that “the retailers are just speculating.”

In such a situation it might be difficult to pinpoint who is giving the real story. Sony has in the past been notoriously tight lipped regarding release dates and one might argue that where there is smoke there is also bound to be fire.

Nonetheless, if MAG’s release date is indeed pushed to 2010 it would thin down an already waning PS3 exclusive release list for 2009.

MAG, previously titled MAG: Massive Action Game is an upcoming online action title which will support up to 256 concurent players per map in multiplayer.

It is currently being developed by Zipper Interactive which was previously responsible for the SOCOM franchise and now forms part of Sony’s development arsenal.
