Now that the official confirmation of the PS3 Slim has somewhat cooled off it has come to light that the console will require a stand to sit upright.
It has also been revealed that said stand will not be included in the overall package and will instead sell for $24 (R192) internationally.
Although this may not appear to be a very significant factor in convincing you to buy a Slim, some Sony fans are bound to feel a little disappointed by the decision. The current PS3 console, like the Xbox360 allows owners to choose whether to stand the console upright or lay it on its side.
The fact that the Slim can’t stand upright without assistance impresses upon us just how much smaller the Slim actually is. Approximate dimensions are 290mm wide, 65mm high and 290mm long when lying flat. In comparison the original PS3 is roughly 330mm wide, 280mm long and 90mm wide.
If you are determined to have your Slim stand upright but refuse to spend what will, in all probability, be R300 locally then perhaps consider fashioning your own stand with a pile of books or a well placed door stop.
Peripheral gaming manufacturers will surely be smiling from ear to ear at the news.
