Sony executive Kazuo Hirai reportedly told Times Online that the company is planning on releasing the motion control device for the PS3 in Spring 2010.
This means that Sony is aiming to release the device in April.
Hirai went on to say “One of the things is that we just don’t want to put out the controller. We need a great software that supports the controller at launch. It’s something that we’ve been working on for the longest time.”
Set to compete directly with Microsoft’s motion detection unit, Natal, the PS3 motion controller is likely to launch first if it makes its planned release date. Natal is expected to launch in 2010, but Microsoft has given no further indication of when to expect it.
