Final Fantasy XIII gets Japanese release

8 September 2009

Developers Square Enix today announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be released on the 17th of December in Japan.

After months of speculation the company gave out the date at a pre event to the Tokyo Games Show. Thus far no Western based release date has yet been given. Some estimates however suggest that the European release may be as late as the second quarter of 2010.

In this case Western gamers will have to wait for developers to convert the title into English, a process which will only begin after the Japanese release takes place.

The game will be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms and was first debuted at the E3 conference in 2006.

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kazuo Hirai also pointed out at the event that a Playstation 3/ Final Fantasy XIII bundle will be released in Japan alongside the game.
