Uncharted 2 demo announced

8 September 2009

Developers Naughty Dog and publishers Sony Computer Entertainment have announced that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be available as a public demo at the end of September.

On the 29th of September a multiplayer public demo will be made available to anyone willing to try it. Details surrounding the content are not yet clear but it has been revealed that it will be different from the closed beta and exclusive multiplayer beta versions which have already surfaced.

The PS3 exclusive is the sequel to the original Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which is widely regarded by critics as one of the most popular PS3 titles thus far. It was praised for its high production values and a number of technical achievements including the visual representation of the jungle. To date it has sold 2.6 million copies worldwide.

Uncharted 2 was announced in December 2008 and is set to be released in North America on the 13th of October. A European release date has not yet been given. The game will reportedly feature some additional mechanics including stealth action segments.

The game plot is set to take place some years after the first instalment and will reportedly have a darker feel, investigating what it is that makes Nathan Drake (the protagonist) a thief.

Additionally Naughty Dog Co-President Cristophe Balsetra revealed recently via Twitter that the game will not require installation to the PS3 hard drive.

With heated competition brewing between Xbox 360 and PS3 factions, a strong list of exclusive titles may be what tips the scales in either manufacturers favour. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves may arguably become a strong contender for Sony in the coming months.
