PS3 owners get Lost Planet Demo next week

17 September 2009

Developers Capcom have confirmed that PS3 owners will have access to the Tokyo Game Show co-operative demo of Lost Planet 2 on the 24th of September.

This will be an expansion of the demo which was released to the Xbox Live Marketplace on the 19th of August.
The primary mission will see players taking down a gigantic G-Type Akrid Salamander boss in co-operative multiplayer mode. Squads of up to four players will be permitted and a host of weapons and Vital Suits will be included in the demo.

The squads will be able to bring down the beast either by “shearing off its legs” or “being swallowed and fighting their way out from the inside”.

PS3 owners will also gain access to two more exclusive co-operative missions.

Throughout the demo players will encounter Akrid of varying sizes while they collect the thermal energy contained in the alien bodies to heal themselves. A number of weapons including missile pods, rocket launchers and machine guns will be available and players will also be able to heal each other.

As a sequel to the original Lost Planet, the game takes place on E.D.N II a decade after the events of the original. The snow has melted to give way to a more tropical climate in which the Akrid, a race of native insect creatures, are thriving.

Lost Planet 2 is pinned for a December release date.
