Cross chat support to come to PS3?

15 October 2009

Rumours have surfaced which suggest that cross game chat support may come to the Playstation 3 in the console’s next firmware update.

Although the feature has been in development for some months, a Naughty Dog representative may have inadvertently revealed that this capability should land within the next few months. This came after a Playstation Community member made the suggestion that it would be a welcome addition to the developer’s upcoming title – Uncharted 2.

Naught Dog Developer “ReklissAbandon” responded to the question by adding that he would “suggest it anyway”. “Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemy positions.”

Although Sony has yet to officially confirm the rumour the post was quickly deleted, leading some forum members to take that as a confirmation of cross chat support to be delivered in the console’s next update.
