God of War III may get DLC challenge rooms

22 October 2009

God of War III game director Stig Asmussen has revealed that it would “make a lot of sense” to release downloadable challenge rooms for the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive title.

“So, maybe you’ll see the game ship with a certain amount of challenges on it, then later on, we might put a download pack out with new challenges. It’s a good way to keep the series going.” he told Gamepro.

This will see the return of the challenge room aspect to the God of War series, an addition which franchise fans should be happy to hear about.
Asmussen refused however to admit that a multiplayer aspect to the game would be included. Adding that games

“With God of War 3, there’s a story we want to tell and an experience we want to deliver, and multiplayer doesn’t fit into that”

“Does that mean we don’t have conversations about multiplayer?” he continued “No. Of course we have conversations about multiplayer, and there are a lot of things we think about. Imagine two Kratos characters running around at the same time. Once you do that, the story becomes something more about an experience between two players and less about something that we’re scripting.”

This open ended response has left the industry questioning whether multiplayer in some format will be included in God of War III. Nonetheless, the third person action adventure title is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated games of 2010.
