Kalahari cuts PS3 Slim 250GB price

9 November 2009

Last week MyGaming learnt that Woolworths would be cutting the price of its PS3 250GB Slim from R4,499 to R4,299. The new pricing was implemented on Friday. Furthermore, users get a R200 gift card when they purchase the console using a Woolworths Visa, making it the best deal available in South Africa on the PS3 250GB Slim.

Kalahari.net has followed suit, and now sells the PS3 250GB Slim console for R4,299, a price which includes free delivery. Users can choose between a number of game bundles when buying from Kalahari, options include Uncharted 2, FIFA 10, Need for Speed: Shift, or a selection of Blu-ray titles.

This makes Kalahari the second local retailer to sell the PS3 Slim 250GB console at below its recommended retail price (RRP) of R4,499.
A local SterKinekor  representative informed MyGaming that the RRP of the PS3 Slim 250GB remains R4,499, and any retailer undercutting this price is doing so at their own cost. This means that we should not expect too many other retailers to follow Woolworths and Kalahari.

Kalahari is known for providing low prices on consoles and games, and also has the lowest local price on the PS3 120 GB Slim. The 120GB console carries an RRP of R3,799, but Kalahari sells it for R3,699. Kalahari also offers free delivery on the console, and availability within three working days, which makes it one of the best places to buy a PS3 Slim in SA.

While Kalahari’s price cut on the 250GB Slim is competitive, Woolworths still takes the cake  for customers who opt to buy the console using a Woolworths Visa Card, effectively reducing the cost to R4,099.
